P1 WEEK 1 Progress Report (Feb 5, 2021)

In our meeting before class on Thursday we made a google doc where we defined our target audience, research methods grocery options, needs/concerns (Google Doc pictured below).

One of our research methods will be focused on observing people as they engage with curbside pick up as a ‘Fly-on-the-wall’. We discussed taking note of the wait length, ~age and any related emotional response. We didn’t want to exclude younger customers because we thought their experience might be valuable to compare.

The other option we discussed was mapping out the steps needed to complete an online shopping experience on different websites/apps, starting with making an account. The websites/apps discussed were Instacart, Amazon Fresh, Walmart and Target. We will each map out the process of one.

My Goals for this weekend:

  • Map out the online shopping experience of Target
  • Continue Secondary Research
  • Take note of more questions or potential problems
  • Observe a seniors who are in-store if possible
  • Think of analogous situations, then research further
  • Make a list of my own personal reservations with shopping online then consider how those may apply to a senior
